Green Initatives

MIET is committed to sustainability through various green initiatives. The campus is powered by solar energy panels, reducing reliance on conventional sources and lowering its carbon footprint. Additionally, the college has implemented rainwater harvesting, with plans to store up to 1 Lakh liters of filtered rainwater. MIET also uses an advanced Sewage Treatment Plant, which processes 10,000 liters of sewage daily and reuses the treated water for gardening and other purposes, reflecting its dedication to eco-friendly practices and environmental conservation.

MIET has embraced sustainability through the installation of solar energy panels across its campus. These panels convert sunlight into clean, renewable energy, powering various facilities and reducing the institute's reliance on conventional energy sources. By harnessing solar power, the college significantly lowers its carbon footprint and contributes to environmental conservation. The initiative also helps in reducing energy costs, ensuring long-term savings. MIET's commitment to renewable energy serves as an inspiring model for students, encouraging eco-friendly practices and sustainable living.

MIET utilizes solar energy panels to promote sustainable energy use and reduce environmental impact.

Phase-I of the Rainwater Harvesting project has been completed at MIET. Completed under a Seed Grant to the Civil Engineering department, it uses specialized rainwater filters for filtering roof-top rainwater. Currently 16,000 liters of filtered rainwater can be stored and utilized. The vision is to harvest and store 1 Lakh liters of filtered rainwater over the next 2 years. The entire project was executed by the college engineering support team along with students & faculty

MIET has implemented a rainwater harvesting system to conserve water and support eco-friendly practices.

MIET in keeping with its commitment to adopting "Green Practices", has installed a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of 10,000 litres per day capacity. This is the first of its kind STP implementation in any higher education institution in J&K using Japanese Johkasou technology for sewage treatment and reuse, which uses low energy for STP processing. The plant has successfully started generating ample treated water which is being used for watering the gardens & other miscellaneous uses.
